The sign up period is from April 10 to May 10 and teams are
formed by May 15. All residents that signup for the 2011 season are
Britton Falls Bocce Club members for a year. You may signup to be an
''Inactive' in league participation Club member, be a Substitute in the bocce leagues, or be a team
player in one of the Mixed Leagues and/or a Mens or Womens League. Teams play a set
of scheduled league games in June and July with a play-off tournament in
August. A league organization meeting is held in late May to cover team
formation, schedule, and selection of team names & team captains.
There will be an 'Inactive' list for Club members that for some reason cannot
or do not wish to play on a team or substitute this season. Inactive Club
members may go on the substitute list anytime they wish and participate in other
Club activities. Inactive members maintain a higher priority to go on a
team the following year than new Club members that year.
You can signup to only substitute. Substitutes are important
players supporting the leagues.
You can signup to participate in the bocce leagues as a
team player. Team players may also be called upon to substitute if they are not
scheduled to play at the time.
NOTE: Team players in the leagues must be in residence here the months of June,
July, and August. Except for emergencies, team players are expected to
play all scheduled league play and tournament games. This is a team sport and
missing players can affect the team's results for the season.
Leagues scheduled for this year:
A Mixed Bocce League is available on
Monday evenings at 6:30 pm.
A NEW Mixed Bocce League is
available on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm.
A Mixed Bocce League is available on Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm.
The priority for filling open team player
slots for next Season is as follows:
1. Team players on a team last year have the highest priority for the league
that they were in and next priority for other leagues.
2. League substitutes & Inactive Club members last year have the next priority
in the order they signup for a team.
3. New Club members who signup to play on a League team have the
next priority in the order they signup.
Anyone
who signs up to play on a team and not able to get on a team will go on the Substitute
list.
A
league is limited to 7 teams (28 players). Sixteen players (4 teams)
are needed to form a league.
Note that husband and
wife may be in the same League but will
NOT
be assigned to the same team.
(We have found that this sometimes
causes 2 players on the same team to miss scheduled games and is a real penalty
for that team.)
